What is the CCSBDC?

The Central California SBDC is a nonprofit agency designed to provide business consulting to small business owners currently located in, or planning to locate within, Fresno, Modesto, Kings, or Tulare Counties. It is closely tied to the SBA and the Craig School of Business at Fresno State. It is a branch of the Merced Regional Center, which is one of 6 regional Centers in California. SBDC offices are in every state, coordinated by the National SBDC.

What can the CCSBDC do for you?

The SBDC provides practical information and guidance that small business owners can use to establish their goals and achieve success in today’s competitive market. This is delivered primarily through free seminars and individual consulting. This web site is also a resource provided for you by the CCSBDC.

The WHAT WE OFFER section of the web site describes our services in detail.

Business Information Center - a library of books and other resources you can check out from our office. Call for information.

How do I get an SBA loan?

Although the CCSBDC does not loan money, we can assist you with the process of applying for financing. SBA loans are made by banks authorized by the SBA, and areinsured by the SBA. This allows the bank to make loans that have a higher risk than they would normally allow. Additional paperwork is required to meet the SBA loan requirements. An SBA loan is llike a traditional bank loan, in that it requires a sound business plan, good credit, and ability to repay.

How do I work with the SBDC as a consultant?

The CCSBDC, and all SBDC offices, work with experts in specific areas of busines as "outside consultants". These consultants are paid (not a lot) by the SBDC to work at no cost with business owners (or prospective owners) to assist with areas such as technology, marketing, inventory, and other in depth topics. Contact the CCSBDC office for more information if you want to give back to the community in this way.

Who pays for all this?

The Central California Small Business Development Center is a partnership between the U.S. Small Business Administration, University of California, Merced, and the California State University, Fresno University Business Center as a service to California Small Business under the current Cooperative Agreement Number. The CCSBDC also receives support from local business and organizations.
